Charlene Conn Szabo, age 77, of Ridgeway Drive, Morehead, passed away Monday, March 25, 2024, at St. Mary’s Corner Stone Hospital in Huntington, West Virginia.
She was born May 13, 1946, in Elliott County, and was the daughter of the late Arnold Conn and Bertha Lou Binion Conn. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 21 years, Julius Grant Szabo on August 21, 2013; one son, Timothy Clell Bear; five brothers, Arvil Conn, Joe Thomas Conn, Jackie Conn, Ralph Conn, and Walter Allen Conn; and one sister, Mary Hazel Rideout.
Charlene is survived by three sons, Anthony (Carrie) Bear of Elliott County, Michael Bear of Morehead, and Shawn (Jasmine) Bear of Nitro, West Virginia; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.
Other survivors include two brothers, Gene Conn of Indiana, and Richard Morris Conn of Olive Hill; two sisters, Nellie Mae Holbrook of Elliott County and Janie Hall of Olive Hill; a host of nieces and nephews, as well as other extended family.
She retired in 1995 from Ford Motor Company and was of the Pentecostal faith. Charlene loved to go fishing, boating, playing bingo, and enjoying the beauty of nature tending to her flowers, especially her roses. She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered.
Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Friday, March 29, 2024, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Louie Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Bear Cemetery on Bear Ridge Road, Highway 2527 in Elliott County.
Pallbearers: Timothy Bear, Shawn Bear, Jerry Conn, Landon Duke, Casey Stevens, and Drake Brewer.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 28, 2024, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
