Denise Ann Gore, age 70, of Bishop Court, Morehead, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.
Born July 24, 1955, in Chapmanville, West Virginia, Denise was the daughter of the late Elmer Otis “Jim Bob” Gore, Jr. and Betty Lee Johnson Wages.
Denise is survived by five special children, Ronnie Lee Goldy, Jr. of Morehead, Robert Wayne Goldy of Nicholasville, Brandon Scott Goldy, Jessica Goldy Elliott, and Sierra Goldy Marin, all of Morehead; two brothers, James Robert “Bobby” Gore of Wallingford and Bruce Wages of Morehead; two sisters, Pamela Wages of Morehead and Monique Lett of Atlanta, Georgia; 12 cherished grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; as well as extended family members and many dear friends.
Denise was a retired nurse practitioner and a former nursing educator at Morehead State University. She earned several degrees from Morehead State University including her Bachelor of Science, cum laude, in May 1981; Master of Science in August 1982; Associate of Applied Science in December 1984; Master of Arts in Education in August 1985; and Bachelor of Science in Nursing in May 1989. She earned her Master of Science Degree in Nursing in December 1990 from the University of Kentucky and completed her Nurse Practitioner Advancement in May 2018 from Northern Kentucky University.
Denise loved traveling, going to the beach, riding motorcycles, and, most of all, spending time with her family. Her legacy will continue to live on through the many lives she touched and the family she so deeply cherished.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Saturday, March 7, 2026, from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead. A celebration of life will begin at 12 noon with Pastor Roy Lands officiating. Burial will follow in Clay Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers are Kevin Anderson, Austin Gaither, Benton Brown, Jamie Stamper, Alex Messer, and Anthony Kidd.
